Change to smartcard certificate lengths

From Care Identity Service release v7.10 on 6 December 2023, Care Identity Service smartcard certificate lengths will be increased from the current 2 years to 3 years.

All certificates renewed after this date will last for 3 years. This includes:

• new smartcards issued by Registration Authorities
• smartcard certificates renewed by Registration Authorities
• certificates self-renewed by smartcard holders

This change will be communicated in the Registration Authority newsletter to all RA managers with an email address on their Care Identity Service profile. If you're an RA manager but you do not get the newsletter, check you have a valid email address on your Care Identity Service profile.
