Derek Clarke is a well-established supplier of Avonex injection.
Avonex (interferon beta-1a, Biogen Idec) is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) to decrease the number of flare-ups and to slow the occurrence of some of the physical disability that is common in people with MS. Avonex injection is approved for use in people who have experienced a first attack and have lesions consistent with MS on their MRI scans.
In clinical trials in relapsing MS, Avonex was shown to have the following benefits:
In a subsequent study of patients who had experienced a single demyelinating event in the optic nerve, spinal cord, or brainstem, and had lesions typical of MS on brain MRI, Avonex was shown to significantly delay the time to a second exacerbation, and thus to a clinically definite diagnosis of MS.
In 2012, the FDA approved the AVONEX PEN single-use prefilled autoinjector. It contains the same dose of medication (30 micrograms) as the prefilled syringe and the powder vial.
Avonex is given once a week as an intramuscular injection.
During the initial weeks of starting treatment with Avonex injection, flu-like symptoms are common side-effects. The FDA has added warnings and precautions to the prescribing information following post-marketing findings.
Derek Clarke, with more than 30 years experience as an exporter of both branded and generics medicines, is able to source and supply products, often unavailable through other sources, quickly and efficiently.
